ARTICLE: Our "Spokescar" a 1970 Buick Riviera
Owner: Steve B., Pierce County
With a 455 cubic inch, unadvertised Stage 1 engine more widely known to be an option in all the Buick GS models, this car will get you there and back quickly and surprisingly efficiently.
“Actually, on the freeway, I can get 17 or 18 miles per gallon,” says its owner Steve B. “The final drive ratio is 2.76 and with the amount of torque it produces, it gets you going quickly, but once you are up to speed, it essentially idles down the freeway.”
The car has a manufacture date of September 1969 and it belonged to Steve’s late mother, Judy. This is the car Steve drove to his prom and the car in which he dated his future wife, Robin. The car was also used by Steve and Robin’s oldest son for his prom, making a true family legacy.
The car is an unrestored beauty with just over 100,000 original miles.
“Tires, tune-ups and brakes are all it’s ever needed,” Steve added.
